Thought I’d create a quick map in Google for all those people moving to Aberystwyth in September. No doubt one of the first things you’ll want (well your parents) to do is stock up your fridge with fresh good. Bare in mind every other Fresher has this instinct of gathering food. A lot of questions that usually get asked is where’s a large supermarket, of this being the most popular choice Morrisons so I have mapped a route to Morrisons hopefully avoiding the mass queues of traffic that head down the hill to town.
I have also added markers for PJM and Cwrt Mawr so you should be able to find your way from there. I have also noted the closest food store which is CK Foods.
This is probably the second time in the last couple of months that has happened to me whilst purchasing products from Tesco. Firstly it was to do with bags of crisps being a couple of weeks out of expiry but now it’s innocent.
You can understand yogurt type products not to have an overly long shelf life but the annoying thing was the packaging. The innocent packaging only displays the expiry date on the individual tubes inside the pot. This makes it difficult not only to the individual when checking the date but also to members of staff checking them too.
Personally I thought that especially in the case of crisps, items like these being fast moving consumer goods would have been purchased long before they expired.
Of course there’s nothing stopping you from going back to the store with your receipt and getting an exchange.. but still. Morrisons own Crisps in the past have been brought and found to have already expired months ago…. however they did offer a free bag of multipack crisps.
I have written brief articles over the last few months on petrol prices in Aberystwyth and Cardiff and how they compare. With the results being Morrisons in Aberystwyth (and other petrol stations such as shell) being more expensive by at least 2-3p per litre compared to Tesco in Cardiff.
Well I topped up with petrol in St Mellons Tesco in Cardiff in the morning of 15th April 2010 at 120.9p… I was half expecting when I get to Aberystwyth that the petrol price would be at least 122.9p but was shocked to find Morrisons in Aberystwyth at 119.9p
If Aberystwyth can be cheaper than Cardiff why they don’t they do this all the time?
Is Morrisons just being nice to customers in Aberystwyth for a change by obsorbing the increased prices of fuel/duty?
Also, Visited Swindon on the 14th April where Shell were selling petrol at 117.9p per litre of fuel… something to think about..
Somerfield may boast that it’s milk is the same price as Tesco, but what good is this to the people of Aberystwyth where there’s no Tesco!
In any case they show that they are offering the same low price as Tesco but on a number of items such as HP Sauces when compared to Morrisons in the same day there were differences from 10p to over 50p an item.
Perhaps they should be looking at Morrisons Prices and put up a sign saying the same price?
