Tesco St Mellons Redevelopment on the Cards?
There have been many articles written in the last two years about the possibility of demolishing the current Tesco Store in St Mellons and in its place a new Extra store to be built but all seems to have gone quiet. During some Tesco St Mellons research online I have discovered a Welsh Assembly document which lists all the Planning Casework.
The document shows an application of planning for the Tesco St Mellons Area:
Received on 10/02/10
Redevelopment of St Mellons District Centre and new retail superstore, Crickhowell Road, Trowbridge
With the conclusion of Non Intervention on the 1st March 2010 which means “Non-intervention is a term that is used to indicate that the Welsh Ministers have completed their consideration about whether an application should be called in and have concluded that it should not be called in.”
So it stills looks like a new store in the St Mellons area is still on the cards according to this information. I did hear somewhere that if a new store was to be built then a temporary store might be built in the car park for use whilst the older store is knocked down and rebuilt. A similar case study to what Tesco did in Culverhouse Cross.
