Aberystwyth University Wi-fi in town?
This has been brought up by many in the past that the University has been looking into the feasibility of having wi-fi broadcasted right across the town of Aberystwyth. This would then of course allow students to logon to the University network and receive free internet excess in their private accommodation in town. However this would mean that all internet service providers that provide internet to students in private sector accommodation would lose out.
There are already similar services available in most parts of Aberystwyth with BT-Fon. This allows people to connect to the internet wirelessly without the need to buy a router or even pay a monthly subscription to the provider… where you’d also need a modem installed. Of course this isn’t free and could set you back for a couple of pound for 24hour internet access… etc.
