Improving your Essay Grades at University
Improving your Essay Grades at University
Now I’m just a student but I’ve found a simple way to help improve the quality of my essay grades. I’m currently pending results on my latest essays which I have used this approach so I’ll have to report back and let you know much my grades have increased.
It may sound quite simple but I didn’t realise until quite recently that research really matters. Part of my degree is doing a module on ‘Management Research Methods’ and as the name tells you it’s all to do with research.
However I had an awaking that from now on I will treat every essay/coursework as a research project and I will do my very best to do as much research as I can.
Research Methods
I’m lucky enough to have the National Library of Wales just around the corner so I’ve started to make the most of it by joining. I found that the Library has lots of research papers, discussion material and lots of interesting books about different subjects relating to my course. My new aim to bulk up my essays with research! – proper research, I’ll still use quotes but now I’ll have information on real businesses, data and results of different management practices to back up my argument!

This is also going to seem quite simple but it may take some people like me a while before realising it! – When you do an essay and you’re doing research from books etc why not do some primary research! – This is up to date research that you carry out yourself. Often people think of standing in the street and doing surveys and this is one element depending on what you’re researching. But I have found that you have primary research available to you right now. You may find that you have friends or family or even family friends that work in different industries that relate to your essay or coursework. So why not give them a ring, interview them on the phone or send them a list of questions you need answering. You can then include this information in your work!
