CK Food Store Supermarket – Aberystwyth Review
CK Food Store Supermarket – Aberystwyth Review
I recently took a walk up to the new supermarket located in Waun Fawr Aberystwyth (Near the Cwrt Mawr Halls of Residence).
In an earlier article I wrote about how after co-op brought our Somerfield that to comply with local competition laws they’d have to remove either the co-op or Somerfield store in Aberystwyth and that they had chosen the co-op store near the University.

Changes to the Store
They’re still going through some hand over changes at the moment, they have some notices up saying sorry for the inconvenience whilst they improve your store etc.
- They have removed the ‘meat’ counter and replaced it with a fresh bakery.
- When you first walk into the store you find a wide open space (It’s weird trying to work out how they created such a large space).
- They have also changed the direction of the shelves from vertically from front to back to side to side instead. It creates the feeling that there’s more food there but I don’t think this is correct.
- Prices seem to be similar if not a little lower in some areas, personally I brought a giant lucozade squash drink and it only cost 99p, usually £1.90ish, classed as ‘Grocery 1’ on the receipt I feel that this was a mistake with their new system.
- New computer system trying to make things easier for the cashier but I feel they are still trying to get used to it as the poor woman on the till was making a few mistakes, not her fault though the screen kept coming up with error messages.
