Aberystwyth University – First Year Registration
Today I helped out in the registration of first years at Aberystwyth University, although it was busy, apparently it wasn’t as bad as last year with the rush with students.
However, saying this, there were mean’t to be more students starting at the University this September.
I think it worked out an average of 4% of first years didn’t turn up to register today, they have to Thursday to register though so this isn’t the final figure. There was also a number of returning students that either failed or put off coming to University for year not turning up to take their places, but this was expected.
This all comes after receiving a telephone call and e-mail saying that there are potential places for myself (a 2nd year student) to go back into halls of residence. I have already taken up accommodation in the private sector otherwise I would have taken it up.
It’s a shame that the University this year kicked all the 2nd years out of halls just for first years.. I suppose this happens every year.
I think the majority of the welsh halls residence don’t even speak welsh fluently.
